Brunel Manor and South West Youth Ministries New Library

Guests will find quite a transformation on our 2nd floor landing. South West Youth Ministries with whom Brunel partners, has moved their library of over 1300 books to a quieter spot where our guests too can withdraw to for quiet reading. Our relationship with SWYM is such a valuable one as, in a small way, we can contribute to the discipling of these young folk by providing a place for training for the students who descend on the Manor regularly throughout the year.

Six times per year between 75 - 100 people predominantly youth and children & families trainees descend on Torbay for 4 days of intensive teaching and training before being sent back all over the South West where they are based in churches and projects.

SWYM offer 1-4 year training options from ‘Be Transformed’ a gap year in youth or children and families work through to a BA (Hons) in Applied Theology with Moorlands College through Moorlands South West which is a Moorlands College campus, validated by the University of Gloucestershire and supported by SWYM.

SWYM will be running ‘Professional Development Days’ on the Mondays of each conference which are open to church leaders, youth and children’s leaders and anyone who would like to join the SWYM community for a day of informal teaching. For more info have a look on the SWYM website

SWYM also run camps and events across the region as a resource for local churches.

We are hoping much will grow out of the joining together of the two organisations.

We are thrilled to be moving our training base to Brunel Manor. This is an exciting development and partnership for us which enables us to offer quality training with potential for growth in the future and all in such a beautiful setting.

Paul Friend, SWYM Director

‘It is a delight to be sharing our facilities with SWYM, not least seeing young people developing their relationship with Jesus and each other.  Our partnership with SWYM will no doubt create further opportunities of contact with churches and young Christians across the South West of England. We thank  SWYM for their contribution of teaching and  resourcing material  in our new 2nd Floor Library for our guests to use during their stay here at the Manor.'
