Work Week

Work Weeks are suitable for those who have good agility and mobility. Unfortunately children under the age of 14 cannot participate in working holidays due to safety reasons. Those between the ages of 14 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times. Volunteers should be able to work between 7 and 8 hours a day. Typically we welcome people to serve in one of the following areas:

  • Gardening and estate work
  • Housekeeping
  • Maintenance
  • Haberdashery
  • Furniture restoration

Although this break is complimentary, you may like to also make a contribution towards your stay. The gardeners always welcome bags of compost, or you might like to contribute financially towards one of our chapel, furnishings or garden funds.

To come for a Work Week book through reception in the normal way and let us know what team you are able to serve on - listed above. Please note that there is a limit both to the number of people who we can effectively manage during these breaks and to the variety and extent of tasks which can be undertaken. We do not want guests to come and feel that they have wasted a few days because their talents were not needed and therefore whilst we try and match guests to the available tasks there may be occasions when we will have to decline people booking on a Work Week. We apologise for any disappointment which that might cause.
