"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me to preach good
news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim
release to the captives and recovering of
sight to the blind, to set at liberty those
who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable
year of the Lord... today this scripture
has been fulfilled in your hearing."
So
spoke Jesus some 2000 years ago; today many
people come to the Manor and find the reality
of those words coming true in their lives
as they come and take time out here.
The Woodlands House of Prayer Trust was
established in 1942 with the vision given
by The Lord to the founders of establishing
and maintaining a home for the purpose of
affording the means of physical and spiritual
help to those in need of rest. Today Brunel
Manor offers an ideal place to come aside
and seek God. We have a number of rooms
which are well away from the noise and activity
of large groups, where you can be still
and know God and allow Him to speak into
your particular situation. The grounds provide
places of solitude, and there is the prayer
garden where you can sit amidst the beauty
of God’s creation. Some may need to
walk their problems out; there are a number
of walks which start and finish at the manor.
Whilst
you may want to come and be alone, you may
also want to spend time confidentially talking
and praying issues through with someone
who is outside of your own situation. Our
pastoral team is available to help meet
such needs. Just ask at reception to make
an appointment to see one of our pastoral
team, but please understand that Brunel
Manor staff are not trained or insured to
offer formal counseling and we do not operate
as a counseling centre.
You are welcome to come and stay on any
basis from B&B through to full board,
should you wish to fast for part or all
of your stay then please mention this at
the time of booking.
