On our knees one evening, God spoke to us very clearly (it is difficult to explain these inner messages, but many of those reading this will understand) saying that we were to buy one of these houses now standing empty, its owner having left for the safety of the country. Buy a house in that part of London, where houses were nightly being bombed to the ground! What could be more stupid, and where was the money coming from? What did God want it for anyway? "Lean not upon your own understanding". Certainly had we done so we would have gone no further.

Large Doors still open wide on small hinges

This passage describes the very foundation of the Woodlands House of Prayer Trust in the midst of the dark years of the last war. Prayer has been fundamental throughout the history of the Trust and will continue to be as we move forwards.

Whilst we invite and encourage Friends of the Manor to pray for the ongoing ministry, with a regular prayer letter and prayer diary, Brunel Manor is a place where many people also come and meet with God in truly amazing ways. We provide a number of areas where you can take time out with God, listen to Him, and be refreshed, comforted and restored amidst the beauty and tranquillity of these wonderful surroundings.

The Chapel is open for all to use, and contains a prayer book where you can record prayer requests, pray for others and record the ways in which the Lord has answered prayer. Outside there is a Prayer Garden, where many find God’s refreshing presence. There is a prayer walk around the grounds, with a prayer guide available from reception, with opportunities to pray for the ministry of the manor and the surrounding area.

Whilst here, the team are available to pray with you. Please ask at reception to make contact, but please note that we do not offer a full Christian counselling service.

The Manor affords the opportunity for personal retreats. Many stay in the Lodge, and make use of the usually quiet lounges there to meet with God.
