Brunel
Manor
Teignmouth Road
Torquay
TQ1 4SF
By Car from M5 / Exeter:
Follow the M5 to its end, then into centre
or right lane onto A380/A38, then bear left
onto A380, signposted Torquay. Turn left
onto the A381 signposted Teignmouth - ignoring
any Torquay signs at this point. On entering
Teignmouth turn sharp right at the first
set of lights and cross the bridge,
following signs for Torquay, through Shaldon
then along the A379 coast road. Brunel Manor
is on the right-hand side after the village
of Maidencombe, four miles before Torquay
town centre.
By Car from the West:
If using the A30, then follow it as far
as Exeter and then take the A38 for short while before you need to bear left onto the
A380 going south, following the above directions.
If
using the A38, then leave it at the A385, through Totnes towards
Paignton & Torquay. Turn left at lights in Collaton St Mary onto
the A380 and follow this over 3 roundabouts to a fourth roundabout at
the bottom of long hill. Turn right off the A380 onto the A3022 towards
Torquay town centre. Follow this dual carriageway to a third set of
traffic lights (by Torbay Hospital & McDonalds) and turn left up
Hele Road. Cross the first roundabout, turn left towards Teignmouth
(A379) at the double mini-roundabout and then left at the next
roundabout, Brunel Manor is on the left-hand side one mile on, at the
top of the hill.
By car from Newton Abbot:
Follow signs to Torquay (A380) to the roundabout
at the junction with the A3022, go straight
over and then follow above directions.
By coach to Torquay Coach Station:
There is a Taxi stand at the coach station.
Brunel Manor is three miles from the coach
station.
By bus:
The Stagecoach No.11 service runs between Teignmouth and Torquay, with a
stop directly outside the Manor. During the summer this is a half
hourly service Mon-Sat and hourly on Sundays. During the winter this is
an hourly service Mon-Sat with no service on Sundays. If coming from
Exeter, the No 2 service stops at Teignmouth and then change onto the
32T.
By train:
There are far more direct trains to Newton Abbot than Torquay and both
stations are a similar distance from the Manor. So book to Newton Abbot
and use a taxi to get to Brunel Manor. If you want to travel by
public transport only, then book to Teignmouth and get the No.11 bus for
the final stage.
Travel Time Guidelines:
London (via M4 and M5) 3.5 hours.
Birmingham (via M6 and M5) 3 hours.
Bristol (via M5) 2 hours.
Plymouth three quarters of an hour.
Exeter half an hour.
Please allow extra time during peak
periods
SAT NAV USERS
Enter
TQ1 4SF as the destination, and NOT Teignmouth Road, otherwise you
are liable to end up in the town centre, some 4 miles from the Manor.
Also beware that some Sat Navs may direct you to Seymour Drive, which
is at the back of the Manor; whilst there is pedestrian access from
there, there is no vehicular access. Teignmouth Road has many twists
and turns, so be warned! If you are unfortunate enough to get lost in
Torquay, then follow signs for A379 Teignmouth, the Manor is at the top
of a winding hill on the left hand side.
