Advent Break

4th December to 8th December 2017

£240 Half Board

£225 Friends Of The Woodlands House Of Prayer

A pre-Christmas break for those who wish to prepare themselves for the wonderful celebration of God coming to earth. As winter truly closes in, enjoy Biblical teaching, new and old friendships as you sit around the fire, at the same appreciating Brunel’s good food and hospitality.

Steve Evans is returning this year to lead our Advent retreat and he'll be walking us through a familiar story with unfamiliar insights.

Steve writes, "We've seen the Nativity told so many times by children in school plays and Sunday schools that we sometimes assume that we understand the everything we can about it. But what would the Gospel writers think of how we understand their words, and would they be telling the same story in the same way today?

Reaching into the past, the Old Testament and historical culture, Steve will be sharing with us some of the key points that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were telling us two thousand years ago and how we can better understand their relevance for today."

Steve is a pastor in a pioneer church in post-industrial South Wales. He has studied Theology at St Michael's College Llandaff and the South Wales Baptist College. He is a regular speaker with the Anglican Order of Preachers, and has appeared on local radio discussing such diverse topics as the Celtic Christian Church and the works of CS Lewis. Steve is married to Louise and they are big fans of board games and Star Trek.
