We are seeking to recruit a full time, qualified chef who can support the Head Chef with kitchen and dining operations in the production of meals. We have a strong Christian team working in a professional environment. We are looking for an individual who can inspire and guide volunteers who work in the kitchen. The assistant chef must be comfortable with batch cooking and able to head up service delivery in the absence of the Head Chef. Brunel Manor offers counter service, table service and call order service opportunities to our guests and customers. Our maximum capacity for food production is up to 120 persons. We generally work a straight shift system although on occasion it may be necessary to work a split shift.
£16,200 per annum
40 hours per week.
The role does involve being part of a duty management team.

Woodlands House of Prayer (Brunel Manor) is a Christian Centre that offers facilities for groups and individuals to meet Jesus. Our gift of hospitality and prayer enables those seeking God to see their lives restored by the Holy Spirit.
The Victorian Manor house has 50+ bedrooms and is set in 13 acres of woodland and beautiful gardens, 2.5 miles from the centre of Torquay or 7 miles from the quaint town of Teignmouth in South Devon.
The main purpose of the role
To learn and develop you as an individual with a view that on the job training and attendance at a local college you will build skills and knowledge to become and invaluable member of the team.
We hope that you will be an individual that will be able to offer flexible working hours and full of energy.
You will work across all departments learning processes and administrative procedures to be legally compliant. Our departments are Accounts, Human Resources, Housekeeping, Maintenance/Buildings/Estate, Catering, Pastoral and Guest Ministry, Reception, Retail.
We are looking for an individual who is very people orientated and not afraid to 'give it a go'. A good sense of humour is essential!
The role requires you to be literate and numerate as this is a degree level qualification.
Are mostly residential or day volunteers with a small staff team.
We are a group of single, married, mixed skilled, mixed nationalities and are ecumenical, from high church to house fellowship backgrounds, we are all-embracing of all people regardless of faith, age, culture or background. We long for persons to know the love of Jesus and understand what He has done for them.
This may be provided and would suit a single person.
Apprenticeship Minimum wage. First year £7696 including single person accommodation.
2nd - 4th year - national minimum wage.
One day a week during college opening times is allocated to training.
40 hours per week. The nature of this role requires the individual to be flexible with their working hours; bearing in mind that guest programme can start early and finish late into the evening on some days. We operate over 7 days, on some occasions you may need to work a split or late shift. The role does require you to become part of the duty management team.
There is a genuine occupational requirement for the individual to be a practicing Christian.

Trustee / Director
We are currently seeking to appoint up to four Trustees/Directors, to join the Board. We are looking for committed individuals who will bring their professional expertise and skills to help Brunel Manor/Woodlands House of Prayer deliver its mission effectively, by overseeing the overall policies and objectives of the organisation and by ensuring that the work of the organisation is monitored and evaluated effectively.
The new Trustees will be individuals of exceptional calibre and will have a demonstrated interest in, and passion for ‘the love of Jesus showed through hospitality’, and not least seeking a prayerful life. They will be able to demonstrate strong intellectual and independent judgement skills, experience of strategic decision-making, and the ability to operate effectively at Board level or equivalent. In addition, they will bring a strong track record of distinguished achievement in their chosen fields.
We are particularly interested in candidates who bring significant commercial experience from within charitable business, as well as fundraising, buildings, and marketing expertise.
The directors and trustees meet approximately 6 times a year, mostly on a Friday.
